Vaishali Sinha recently co directed/produced the feature length documentary ‘Made in India‘, about the human experiences behind the phenomenon of outsourcing surrogate mothers to India that won the grand jury awards for best documentary feature at the Florida Film Festival and San Francisco Intl. Asian American Film Festival. The film also received several competitive grants. Vaishali’s other films include ‘Red Roses’ about South Asian women coming to the U.S. via family obligations and ‘Choose Life?’ about abortion and choice that won her an award for best narrative at the New School University.Vaishali has worked as editing associate for Richard Wormser (Dir: Rise and Fall of Jim Crow) on award winning films at Videoline Productions. She continues to freelance on various commercial and non profit projects including the most recent ‘Sonia’s Search‘ (funded by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation) and ‘Courage Unfolds’ a film on grassroots actvism (produced by IGLHRC).

She often speaks at film panels as well as at Universities such as Harvard Law School, Columbia University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Hunter College and more, where she has presented her film ‘Made in India’. An avid lover of films, Vaishali uses filmmaking as a platform to explore and discuss socially sensitive issues. She is from Mumbai currently residing in Brooklyn, NY.
